A sh*tscared Will Smith bungee jumps from a helicopter to celebrate 50th birthday

Let’s start this one by saying, holy f**ken sh*tballs, Will Smith is 50! I would ask how that’s possible, but the obvious answer is that the relentless march of the years never stops and that’s just depressing as f**k. What’s not depressing though is the way the not so fresh prince chose to celebrate his fiftieth. The legendary star figured the best way to get jiggy with the rapid approach of senility and old age was to fight it off with an awesome bungee jump over the Grand Canyon.

Best of all, not only were Smith’s family there to shower him with support, but so was another Fresh Prince of Bel Air alumnus, Alfonso Riberiro. Yeah, nah, f**ken Carlton was there too. That’s pretty bloody awesome for anyone who’s also an old b*stard and remembers the show well.

Anyway, Smith was apparently put up to the challenge by YouTube group Yes Theory as part of their goal to raise awareness of education campaigns run by Global Citizen. That’s enough context though, let’s get to the jump. At the start of the footage, I don’t think it’s a stretch to say Will is freakin’ it a little. Can’t blame him. Plenty of people would be.

Anyway, once he drops, it’s impossible not hear the recognisable laugh and voice. That right there is classic Will Smith. Speaking about it afterwards, he said, “Nothing. Nothing will ever be scarier than that. It goes from complete, absolute terror to the most magnificent bliss you’ve ever felt in your life. And I don’t know what it is, when the cord works – first of all, you happy the cord worked, right. Then it’s like the whole Grand Canyon is mine.”

Then, the big bloody legend dropped some poignancy. Check this sh*t out: “It’s almost like you need terror to experience the bliss…You have to commit. Life is hard, you might get hurt, your heart might get broken, you might lose your job, but you’ve still got to commit.”

F**ken well said, Willie. Well said.

Final thought: Will Smith is f**ken old. Having said that, he’s still pretty rad. He’s definitely one of the few in Hollywood who might actually be a real person. Good sh*t. Finally, a belated happy birthday to you, Will. The Willennium might have been f**ken yonks ago, but you’re still pretty bloody fresh. For an old dude.
