This drone-shot film flying through bowling alley is the best thing I’ve seen this year

As you’re probably aware, people around the world are using drones more and more. In particular, we’re seeing them used for capturing some great aerial footage, and if this new video of a bowling alley captured on film by Sky Candy Studios is anything to go by, the technology’s just getting better and better. Have a bloody squiz at some of the awesome shots in here to see what we’re talking about…

All right, as we mentioned above, this thing was filmed by Sky Candy Studios, a Minneapolis-based film company, and it’s f**ken mintox. Deadset. They took the footage at Bryant Lake Bowl, and it’s awesome.

The two blokes in charge of this particular video are Jay Christensen and Anthony Jaska, and they captured the whole thing in one take. As part of that, they captured people drinking at the bar, people mid-game, the workings of the machinery, and tonnes of other cool s**t.

Christensen told the Daily Mail, “It’s a one-take, so we’re using a very small FPV racing drone that you’re able to fly from the exterior of a building all the way through the interior of the building in one shot and in the meantime tell a story using a sound design.”

As you can tell, the audio’s captured in post, but it’s the footage here that’s so bloody good. Christensen pointed out that the speed the footage was captured was the speed the drone was moving.

“Coordinating the timing of everyone’s actions was the most difficult part. So many variables needed to align simultaneously to make the shot work. In a one-take, everyone’s role is critical.”

Jaska added that, “It takes a great deal of skill to actually fly behind the pins or underneath the ball feeder and then we make adjustments and see what we can get away and finally we get the take and people can go home.”
