Money is a pretty interesting thing. Depending on how much you have, you may have a completely different understanding of it to someone else. And, yeah, we know that’s a bit of a no-brainer, but the reality is that for many people who don’t have it, the smallest things can signify great wealth. For a real understanding of that, you only need to have a look at what kids – particularly those of a low socioeconomic background – see as a luxury, and in turn, a marker of wealth.

To be completely honest, we know that no matter where you stand on the ladder of wealth, there’s always going to be something you look at as ‘rich c**t stuff,’ but what we’re really talking about here are the seemingly everyday things a lot of us take for granted that highlight the gap between rich and poor.

Now, let’s have a bit of a caveat here. This is most definitely not designed as a point-and-laugh article at those who went without. Yeah, nah, to be fair, many of us who even come from places we might not have considered particularly prosperous might have realistically been quite privileged. If that’s the case, we might see things on here that make us think, ‘Fark, really?’

On the other side of the coin, if you’ve ever looked enviously at other kids at school, at your mate’s shoes, or at the neighbour’s awesome new s**t, then you might know full-well what it’s like to see items some see as everyday as completely f**ken unattainable. And that’s the thing about poverty. It’s f**ken crippling, and the cycle is relentless.

Anway, this list all started when one sheila on Twitter, a makeup artist by the name of Samantha Ravndahl, asked, what items were the pinnacle of wealth to you as a child. Some of the answers are pretty f**ken eye-opening. Have a squiz.

Final thought: As we said, some of these items might have been seen as the pinnacle of wealth simply because of a lack of funds, but on other occasions, it might just be misguided naivety. Let us know what things you thought were a signifier of wealth when you were a little bloke. Post your answers in the Facebook comments.
