7.1 magnitude earthquake hits during sheila’s make-up video blog

Every now and then, the team at Ozzy Man Reviews goes through Ozzy’s video submission zone and has a squiz at some of the gold on offer. We can usually count on finding something rad in there, but on rare occasions, we find vids that just don’t feel right. This video – which has been doing the rounds – is one of those. We’re not sure what exactly’s wrong with it, but after doing some research we want to put it to you blokes…

Right, so first of all, we all know about the earthquakes in California, right? Obviously, the whole place is eventually going to float away and/or sink like Atlantis. Your geography teacher told you that, The Rock told you that and even bloody Tool told you that. It is known.

Anyway, the chick in this video was apparently filming a make-up tutorial when the earthquake hits and leaves her looking like the bloody Joker. On first glance, it all seems legit, but watching it, you can’t help but feel it’s a little bit dramatic, right? We certainly saw it and went, um, yeah, nah.

And you’d better believe we’re not the only ones. You should know by now that the internet is pretty friggen good at solving mysteries, and when it comes to the question of whether or not this vid’s a stitch-up, there’s a pretty strong chorus of dissenters.

Get this. They even reckon Ali-J, the sheila behind it, has been waiting two years to post it and claim it’s real. Now, to be fair, that’s a big call, and we like to give people the benefit of the doubt – and let you blokes and blokettes make up your own mind. So here are the raw facts:

• First of all, the quake in the vid’s way too short. It only goes for a few seconds, but in real life it apparently lasted anywhere from thirty to sixty seconds.
• Secondly, the video says she was in LA. That’s like a hundred and fifty miles from the earthquake’s epicentre – and that mean there’s too much shaking going on here.
• Third of all, she looks like she’s acting.

Now, here’s the real kicker: the full-on sleuths have looked at Ali-J’s previous activity and they’ve cross-checked with a Buzzfeed video filmed in an earthquake simulator. And you know what, if they were playing cards, they’d have yelled, BLOODY SNAP!

On top of that, they even reckon she hasn’t aged in the two and a half years she’s been posting videos. Their conclusion: it’s a two-year long prank and she filmed them all on the same day, only releasing them gradually.
