Bloke claims he’s nailed the KFC secret recipe and has shared it online

We all know that KFC’s recipe is a closely guarded secret, but that’s never stopped people from trying to reverse engineer it, nail it through trial and error, or just f**ken fluke it. Despite that, we’ve never really had anyone claim they’ve struck gold with any degree of confidence. Until now. Yeah, nah, Pommy bloke Dan Fell has spent the last year and a half trying to get it down to a science, and now that he’s got some extra time on his hands, he reckons he’s got it. Better yet, he’s shared the recipe online!

In a series of tweets that went live at the end of last month, Dan took his claims to the internet, and we reckon he’s pretty confident about it. The real test will be whether or not he disappears in the next few weeks, but have a bloody look at the recipe he’s shared online!

“Right then,” he says in the video, “you wanted to know how to make KFC at home. I’m gonna tell you.” On his kitchen bench, you can see an array of ingredients, and if he’s right, it is a pretty f**ken monumental feat to figure it out. There’s plenty of s**t going into it.

“Five cups of plain flour. Half a tablespoon of oregano and thyme. One tablespoon of ground ginger. Two tablespoons of garlic powder. One tablespoon of mustard powder; these are seeds. I’m gonna grind them up. One tablespoon of celery salt. One tablespoon of black pepper. A third of a tablespoon of sea salt. Two tablespoons of white pepper and four tablespoons of paprika.”

After that, he goes on to give a few tips, and if the images are anything to go by, the mix is looking pretty good. In fairness, though, he’s honest and says the results seem to improve each time and with each little tweak, so don’t be disheartened if it doesn’t pan out the first time.

“Give it a try,” he says as he signs off. “Cook it. Let us know what you think. You might need to tinker with the flour a little bit to get the right flavour, but it works pretty good for me.”

Final thought: We’re imagining that plenty of you are heading straight to the kitchen, so if you do give this one a crack, take some bloody photos, give us a squiz at the final product and let us know how it goes. If bloody Dan’s got this as good as he says he has, there could be a knighthood coming his way.
