Parents take modem on daytrip after kids refused to leave house for family trip

Teenagers are a bloody funny bunch. Don’t get us wrong, we know we sound like old-as-f**k boomers saying that, but bear with us. We get that it’s totally bloody normal for teens not to wanna hang with their olds. S**t, we didn’t when we were younger, but sometimes you’ve got to question their decision-making skills – especially when they skip a trip to the beach for the sake of staying home. One family who knew what was causing the problem decided to switch things up. They took the bloody modem instead!

Rightio, obvious caveat here is that for teenage boys of a certain age, the reason they want to stay home for some ‘time alone’ is no secret.

Without a modem, though, the hairy-palmed little Mr Magoos had better hope they’ve got plenty saved in the old virtual memory.

Anyway, were getting ahead of ourselves and stealing Cassie Langan’s story, so we’d better let her tell it before she takes away our internet privileges too. Here’s what she said on Facey.

“We asked our kids if they would like to go on a day trip to Warrnambool today and were met with the response ‘that’s so boring, I don’t want to go’. Chris and I decided that instead of taking 3 unappreciative kids out, we let the ones who didn’t want to go stay home and took our most over worked family member for a well-deserved day out….. our modem.”

To top it off, they took a s**tload of photos to go with the post.

“Modem had a fantastic day not being used by the kids and it was lovely not to listen to constant bickering. The only complaining was Evan being mortified that we took our modem out in public.”

Since she posted it online, the story’s gone viral. We’re not sure how the kids coped with the lack of internet, but hopefully they’ll find hobbies that don’t require a modem in the future. That’ll really take the power back from their parents.

Final thought: Look, we know we presented this like we’re siding with the parents, but the reality is that you kinda need to let teens have their time and space. After all, if you’re the kind of bloke who steals their modem, you’re probably gonna wanna talk to them as well. Bugger that!
