Maisie Williams asks internet for GoT memes, receives hundreds of hilarious replies

Despite the fact we’ve just had an election here in Ozzyland, conservative states in the US are peeling back women’s rights, and Libya is descending into war, the biggest news of the last week was undoubtedly the finale of Game of Thrones. No matter what you thought of that actual episode, you can’t deny the series as a whole has brought epic fantasy to your TV screen like none before it. Also, because it’s been super f**ken popular, people have memed the living shit out of it. One sheila who’s keen on checking out all the memes is none other than Maisie Williams.

In case you didn’t know, Maisie is the sheila who’s taken Arya Stark from the pages of old mate George’s novels to the living, breathing night-king stabbing weapon she is in the television series. Deadset, she’s been along for the ride through all of Arya’s awesome – but not quite as awesome as Bran’s – character arc.

So when the show finally came to a close and she decided she wanted to make like Christopher Columbus and travel all the way to the west of Westeros, Maisie Williams was chilling the f**k out at home on her Twitter account when she had a brainwave.

“Just here for the memes,” she posted. Obviously, the internet didn’t disappoint and people travelled from near and far to load Maisie’s account up to the gills with meme after meme after meme.

Considering Maisie was only twelve when she filmed the pilot episode, you have to admit it’s a unique way to sign off from a television show you’ve literally grown up as part of. In a way, it’s f**ken spot-on for Arya. No big emotional farewell, no fancy-pants blog or interview, just a message that really ties in to Arya’s resolution in the way that it reflects she wants to experience life and have fun doing it.

Final thought: We bloody love s**t like this. If you reckon Maisie’s post is a bit old now and you’d feel weird posting your Game of Thrones meme there, load it up on our comment section. We’ll f**ken dig it.
