People Are Outraged That This Berlei Bra Commercial Has Been Banned From Facebook

Here at Ozzy Man Reviews, we love to keep abreast of the latest happenings in the news media. And of course, one of the big talking points in the news today is that Facebook has made themselves look a right tit by banning the latest Berlei Bra commercial.

The commercial, designed and created by brand new creative agency, The Monkeys, is designed to highlight the dilemmas women face with their bras every day.  The agency’s creative director says, ‘(it) reveals all the frustrations women have endured over the years from bras. We wanted to tell this story with humour, empathy and bold honesty – three things the category has often been devoid of.’

Not having a pair of jubblies myself, I can’t really relate to the problems she’s mentioning, but I have stuffed two balloons down my shirt before and didn’t find that the most comfortable thing in the world.  Maybe she’s onto something. After all, my fiancee says it’s a good commercial, and she should know. She has a rather fine pair of bazoomas herself.

The ad focuses on some key words.  It shows how melons, norks and chesticles have been:

  • Suppressed
  • Bound
  • Exposed
  • Restricted
  • Pressured
  • Poked
  • and prodded

It features footage of real women struggling with their knockers in various contexts.  There are old women, young women, fat women and skinny women in the commercial.  As a result there are big boobs, little boobs and somewhere-in-between boobs.  There’s a whole range of bra styles and shapes in there, and it’s not sexual, sexy or even risqué.  It’s just girls in bras with their hooters.

So why has Facebook banned it?  Apparently, they think the commercial focuses too much on one body part (I’d have said it focuses on two, but whatever, Trevor), has pixelated nudity and overly zoomed images.

Have they seen half the stuff that’s on Facebook?

Some people are saying it’s a bit rich from Facebook that we finally get a bra commercial that focuses on reality, celebrates real women with real body issues and doesn’t sexualise what it’s selling only for them to go ahead and ban it anyway.

What do you think of the commercial?  Is it rude?  Is it acceptable?

Make your own mind up below.
